Chandigarh: After the Western Disturbance, the average temperature has dropped by 7.2 degrees after the rain in Punjab-Chandigarh. The day temperature fell 3.9 degrees below normal. After the rain, the effect of fog will now be seen in Punjab-Chandigarh. A yellow alert has been issued regarding fog in Punjab and Chandigarh. That is, visibility may decrease to 100 meters in some areas.
Apart from Chandigarh, fog alert has been issued in 17 districts of Punjab, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur and Malerkotla.
Due to the Western Disturbance, a heat lock situation has arisen after the sky became cloudy. Due to which a slight increase in night temperature has been observed. The minimum temperature was recorded between 2 to 5 degrees, now the minimum temperature in Gurdaspur has been recorded at 5 degrees. However, due to rain, the day temperature has dropped. The temperature of all the cities remained between 13 to 17 degrees.
Rainfall in Punjab and Chandigarh
Chandigarh in Punjab received 8.8 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, 19 mm of rain was recorded in Barnala, 10 mm in Amritsar, 1.4 in Ludhiana, 5 in Patiala, 4 in Pathankot, 12 in Bathinda, 10.5 in Moga, and 7.5 mm in Mohali.
According to the Meteorological Department, the western disturbance is still active in North India. An alert has also been issued regarding cold wave in Punjab and Chandigarh from Sunday.
According to the weather department, the effect of fog will be seen till 31 December. Along with this, a cold wave alert has also been issued. After snowfall in the mountains, the temperature of Punjab-Chandigarh can fall by 2 to 3 degrees.
