Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
This attack came at a time when Captain termed the arrest of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia as “political vendetta” and accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of “crushing democracy”.
Amarinder Singh shared a post in which he alleged that the voice of dissent in Punjab was being suppressed, protesters were being crushed and the state was being run in a mafia style from Delhi. He termed it as a “brutal action against the innocent” and an “attempt to spread sensationalism in the name of governance”.
CM Mann went live on social media
Reacting to this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wrote on social media that Captain Amarinder Singh is now worried about the human rights of drug smugglers. Whereas during his and his nephew’s rule, the youth of Punjab were dying of drug addiction and they were busy in mehfils and private programs at that time.
He asked the Captain what happened to the promise made by him to end drugs in four weeks during the 2017 elections. The Chief Minister said that now the public knows that all of you are double-faced people, but this understanding has come after losing a lot.
BJP asked to present its stand
Bhagwant Mann also quipped that now BJP will brush off your statement by calling it a “personal opinion”. He clarified that the government is not discriminating against anyone, rather action is being taken against those against whom there is solid evidence.
