Punjab CM vows more strict action against Drug smugglers: Rehab for addicts, bulldozer for drug mafias

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has hinted at further intensifying the ongoing action against drug smugglers. He made it clear that no one will be spared, no matter how big their reach is.

Chandigarh, June 26: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has hinted at further intensifying the ongoing action against drug smugglers. He made it clear that no one will be spared, no matter how big their reach is. He hinted that in the coming days some more big smugglers will go to jail and illegal properties will be demolished.

Talking to journalists on Thursday, Chief Minister Mann said that anti-drug campaign has been going on on a war footing for many months. Panchayats are issuing fatwas that those caught with drugs will not be supported. He said that those who fall into bad company will be treated in re-hab centers.

Mann said that at the same time, bulldozers have been used against those who were building their palaces by destroying the houses of others. The CM said that we were already saying that let the evidence come, the turn of the elders will also come. Do not keep any misunderstanding in your heart.

Villages taking a stand against Drugs

Mann praised the efforts of village panchayats, which are now issuing social boycotts against people caught with drugs. He said those who have become addicted will be sent to rehabilitation centres, not punished.

Bullldozers against drug lords

Referring to illegal constructions, Mann said, “We’ve used bulldozers on the palaces built from the pain of oethers. We always said, let the evidence come, the turn of the big fish will come too. Don’t be under any illusion.”

Start the campaign with planning

CM Bhagwant Mann said that it took some time because planning takes time. Think about it, we can break the supply line, but what will we do with those who are addicted. Rehabs were built for them.

The policemen were involved. Our raids failed because of the policemen. They used to inform the smugglers in advance by calling them. That is why they were transferred. People were asked to cooperate. That is why this campaign has now gained full momentum.

Inside Help from police slowed the campaign

CM said that now there is a big difference, now calls come. Now when the police goes, it is found out that they have fled from their homes. We have been saying, no one will be spared. No matter how strong he is, he knows the big officer.

Who are the big smugglers responsible for spreading drugs in the state? The small ones are just carriers, they pick up drugs from here and take them further. The big ones were the ones who divided the areas.

I will keep working for Punjab

The CM said that Punjab has to be made drug-free. CM Mann said his commitment to the people of Punjab is clear:

“No one should think they’re untouchable. We don’t fear anyone. We’re here to serve Punjab, and we’ll continue this fight every day.”
