Punjab DIG raids police station early morning: DSP-SHO were sleeping, SHO suspended

In Punjab, Jalandhar Range DIG Harmanbir Singh Gill raided Tanda police station in Hoshiarpur on Tuesday. When he reached the police station, DSP and SHO were sleeping in their quarters. Not only this, only assistant clerk was present in the police station and he did not have any weapon.

The DIG showed displeasure over this and suspended SHO Tanda Sub Inspector Raman Kumar. He asked to take action against the DSP. Apart from this, an explanation has been sought from Hoshiarpur SSP.

Jalandhar Range DIG Harmanbir Singh Gill, who reached Tanda police station, first reached the clerk’s room and talked to the control room on the wireless set.

After which DIG Gill told the control room that make the SSPs of all three districts (Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur) note that I have reached Tanda police station today for checking. At around 7:30 in the morning, only the assistant clerk was present in the police station.

The roll call scheduled for 8 am was missing. SHO and DSP Tanda were found in their respective quarters. There was absolutely no manpower in the police station. There was a female undertrial in the police station, but there was no female employee in the police station. At present, I am putting the SHO of Thana Tanda on line duty. Action will be taken against the DSP and an explanation call has been made to SSP Hoshiarpur.

Gill said- Such checking will continue in every police station of my range and action will be taken wherever faults are found. Action will be taken against any officer who does not follow the agenda sent from the Range Office (DGP Office) with immediate effect.
