Punjab extended the period of OTS till August 16, says FM Harpal Cheema

The Finance Minister said that his government had launched OTS-3 in November 2023 which received a good response

The Punjab government has once again extended the deadline of the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS-3) implemented to settle the previously pending cases of Goods and Services Tax (GST). Now people will be able to take advantage of it till August 16. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema gave this information in a press conference held at Punjab Bhawan today (Wednesday).

The Finance Minister said that his government had launched OTS-3 in November 2023 which received a good response. There were 70313 eligible applicants in the scheme whose amount was less than one crore. Out of this, 58756 had applied so far. Out of these, there were 50774 people whose dues were up to one lakh rupees. Which has been refunded to them.

Cases of 7982 applicants are pending whose case is of one crore rupees. The dues of 11557 cases range from one lakh to one crore. This scheme has been the most successful. The business class of Punjab has got relief. The work of the department has become easier.

137.66 crores came into the government treasury

The Finance Minister says that the department has benefited from this scheme. Now the extra burden on the department has been reduced. 215.92 crores have been given to the people. 137.66 crores have come into the treasury of Punjab from OTS-3. These are the cases from which the department was not getting any recovery.

11557 eligible applicants will get the benefit of the scheme. However, the government had earned 13 crores from the first and second OTS schemes.
