A major breakthrough has been achieved in the case of bomb threats to the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Amritsar, July 18: A major breakthrough has been achieved in the case of bomb threats to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Two accused have been arrested from Tamil Nadu, who are said to be behind sending threatening e-mails to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

Although no official statement has been issued by the Punjab government or the police so far, according to sources, investigation teams were active in Tamil Nadu for the last two days and were looking for links. Since July 14, SGPC has received five threatening emails.

In these mails, there was a mention of blowing up the Golden Temple with RDX. After the mails, security agencies in Amritsar became alert and a thorough search operation was carried out with tight security arrangements in the temple premises and the surrounding areas.

Interrogation of the accused continues

Taking the threat emails seriously, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held an emergency meeting with top police and intelligence officials, including DGP Gaurav Yadav.
