Golden Temple Bomb Threat Case: Software Engineer from Haryana detain, Interrogation underway

A major breakthrough has been achieved in the case of bomb threats to the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Amritsar, July 18: Amritsar Police has detained a software engineer from Haryana in connection with the threats to bomb the Golden Temple in Punjab. The accused has been identified as Shubham Dubey of Faridabad, who has been brought to Amritsar for questioning. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has confirmed this.

He said that emails were not only sent to the Golden Temple but also to Delhi schools, courts, CM, MPs and several institutions in Tamil Nadu.

There is a suspicion that an attempt is being made to highlight the issues of Tamil Nadu by using the name of the Golden Temple. Because in the threatening emails that have been sent, two lines are about the Golden Temple. But the discussion that begins below that mentions incidents related to Tamil Nadu and DMK. The people whose names have been written in this email are also all from the Southern states.

The Police Commissioner said that many emails have been circulated in Tamil Nadu in the past. Due to this, many officials of Tamil Nadu are also in touch with the Punjab Police.

Let us tell you that since July 14, SGPC has received five threatening emails. In these emails, there was a talk of blowing up the Golden Temple with RDX. After the mails, security agencies in Amritsar became alert and a search operation was carried out with tight security in the temple complex and surrounding areas.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a high level meeting

Taking the threat emails seriously, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held an emergency meeting with top police and intelligence officials, including DGP Gaurav Yadav. After the meeting, he posted on social media: “We will not compromise on the security of Punjab. Protecting a holy place like the Golden Temple is our top priority. Security agencies are alert and no anti-national element will be spared.”

Meeting called by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav and senior officers present.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of Punjab to stay away from rumours and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
