There is turmoil in government departments after new in-charges and co-in-charges were appointed in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. After Education Secretary KK Yadav and Food Director Puneet Goyal, the Punjab government has also relieved Home Department Secretary Gurkirat Kripal Singh (IAS) from his post. All the departments have been taken away from him and no new department has been given.
The removal of Gurkirat Singh has intensified discussions in all the departments. Apart from the Home Department, Gurkirat Singh also had an important department like mining.
The government transferred 5 IAS officers
Among the five IAS and one PCS officer transferred by the government, Alok Shekhar has been appointed as the new Additional Chief Secretary, Home. He will continue to hold the Cooperation Department as before. Jaspreet Kaur Talwar has been transferred from the Taxation Department to the Mining Department.
She will also have additional Jail and Justice departments. Secretary of Rural Development Department Ajit Balaji Joshi has been appointed as the Secretary of the Taxation Department along with his old department. Basant Garg has been appointed Secretary of Agriculture Department.
Gurkeerat’s departments given to Sandhawalia
Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia has been appointed Commissioner of Gurdwara Elections along with his old departments. This department was earlier with Gurkirat Kripal Singh. Among PCS officers, Ajit Pal Singh has been posted as Deputy Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs. He will also be Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Affairs.
