Punjab Govt action against Drugs: DCs directed to ensure adequate facilities at rehab centers

Under this campaign, IAS officer Sandeep Kumar will visit all the de-addiction centres and take stock of their condition.

To free Punjab from the clutches of drugs, the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has decided to launch a massive campaign across the state. Under this campaign, the process of drug prevention and rehabilitation will be strengthened.

According to a state government spokesperson, as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha has directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to take strict action against drug abuse in their respective districts. He said that rehabilitation and de-addiction centers should be fully equipped with medicines, testing kits and necessary staff so that drug addicts can be treated properly.

 

Under this campaign, IAS officer Sandeep Kumar will visit all the de-addiction centres and take stock of their condition. He will submit a direct report of any kind of deficiency or negligence to the government. The state government has made it clear that this campaign will be monitored at a high level and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.
