Chandigarh: The Home Ministry has praised the Punjab Police for maintaining law and order in Punjab. The state’s Kiratpur Sahib police station has secured 8th position at the national level and first position in Punjab in the annual ranking for the year 2023.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Wednesday that this annual ranking of police stations is done on the basis of parameters set by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Under this, the Kirtapur police station has received two certificates jointly signed by the Union Home Minister and the Union Home Secretary.
DGP Gaurav Yadav along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Headquarters Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill handed over both certificates to SSP Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana and congratulated him and SHO Kiratpur Sahib. The Home Ministry ranks police stations annually based on pre-defined parameters such as disposal of investigations, redressal of complaints, effective complaint redressal, maintenance of records, conviction rate etc.
The DGP said that Kiratpur Sahib Police Station has performed brilliantly in these areas, giving evidence of its commitment to efficient and competent policing. This achievement reflects the effective policing strategies and public-friendly outreach adopted by Kiratpur Sahib Police.
The DGP thanked the Home Ministry for recognizing the services of the police and said that this recognition is an inspiration for the police personnel to continue providing excellent services and reflects the commitment of Punjab Police towards excellence and efforts to create a more and more secure environment for the people.
