Jalandhar: Congress national spokesperson and former minister Shashi Tharoor is reaching Jalandhar in Punjab at around 1.30 pm today. Shashi Tharoor will talk to the media at a local hotel in the city and seek votes for Congress candidate and former CM of the state Charanjit Singh Channi.

Congress is putting emphasis on Jalandhar seat at national level
Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat has always been considered a stronghold of Congress. Congress has always been strongest in Jalandhar in the entire state. Due to this emphasis is being laid by Congress at the national level. In the last by-election, Congress had lost the Jalandhar seat to Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku (now in BJP), Congress is leaving no stone unturned to make things in their favor.
This time, Congress has fielded former CM of the state Charanjit Singh Channi to win the Jalandhar seat. The polling on all 13 seats of Punjab will be held on June 1 during final phase of elections.
