Chandigarh: The Election Commission has made preparations for Panchayat elections in Punjab. Meanwhile, the Opposition leader in Punjab Pratap Singh Bajwa met the Election Commission today. After this, a press conference was held by LOP Bajwa. Pratap Singh Bajwa has appealed to the Election Commission to postpone the panchayat elections. Bajwa requested postponement of panchayat elections and sought remedial measures for irregularities in the nomination process.
A delegation of Congress leaders met the State Election Commission today (Monday). Pratap Bajwa requested the Election Commission to consider postponing the panchayat elections by at least three weeks to allow for a more organized and fair process.
In the letter issued by the Election Commission yesterday, it has been stated that video recording of the entire process during voting and counting will be mandatory.
Senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa gave information in this regard by a post on X. Bajwa said – “We welcome this decision of the Election Commission. This is a positive step of the Election Commission regarding transparency in elections. However, this instruction must be followed not only in letter but also in spirit. The role of the SEC does not consistently reflect our constitutional values.”
