Punjab: Mid Day Meal menu changed: Will implement from July 1

The Punjab School Education Department has changed the Mid Day Meal menu. Now 'Maah Chane ki daal' has been entered in it. Also, Kheer will be served to students once a week.

Chandigarh : The Punjab School Education Department has changed the Mid Day Meal menu. Now ‘Maah Chane ki daal’ has been entered in it. Also, Kheer will be served to students once a week.

The new menu will be implemented from July 1 after the holidays. The focus will be on the purity of the food. Also, the food will also be checked by the school management committees. For this, duties have been assigned by the department.

The menu has been prepared in this way

According to the menu, Dal (with vegetables) and roti will be given on Monday, Rajma rice on Tuesday, Brown/ White Chickpeas (with potatoes) and Puri and roti on Wednesday, Kadhi and rice on Thursday, Seasonal vegetable and roti on Friday, ‘Maah Chane ki Daal’ on Saturday.

During this time, seasonal fruits will also be given to the students. The department has clarified that the food will be served hot to the children. Students should not have any problem with the food.

Food is served in 19 thousand schools

There are more than 19 thousand government schools in Punjab. Where food is served from first to eighth class. The effort behind this is to connect children to school.

Adequate funds are provided by the department for mid-day meal. Also, a record of all the food given to children in mid-day meal is kept. For this, cooks have been deployed in all the schools.
