Punjab Monsoon Update: Monsoon arrived in Punjab; Rain alert issued in 12 districts

The department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala.

Monsoon has arrived in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 8 districts of the state and an orange alert in 4. There is a possibility of heavy rain in these districts. At the same time, the department has issued an alert at the tehsil level till 9 am.

Rain is also expected for the next three days. Ferozepur was the hottest in 24 hours. The temperature here was recorded at 42.6 degrees.

Yellow alert issued by IMD

The department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala. There is a possibility of heavy rain here. There is an orange alert for very heavy rain in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala and Jalandhar.

Moderate rain, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 30 to 40 km per hour are expected in Rajpura, Derabassi, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Bassi Pathana, Kharar till 9 am at the tehsil level.

Similarly, there is a possibility of light rain in Patiala, Rajpura, Derabassi, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Bassi Pathana, Phagwara, Jalandhar 2, Balachaur, Nawanshahr, Anandpur Sahib, Garhshankar, Nangal, Hoshiarpur, Baba Bakala, Batala, Bhulath, Dasuha, Mukeria and Gurdaspur.

Monsoon has reached Punjab, but it is not raining as expected. Due to this, heat and humidity persist across state. Rain has been reported in 2 districts in 24 hours. These include 17.5 MM rain in Mohali and 5.5 MM rain in Rupnagar.
