Punjab on the brink of educational transformation: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a significant upcoming transformation in the state’s education sector. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he disclosed that nearly 27 lakh parents participated in a recent expansive Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) across government schools, highlighting a new focus on parental engagement in their children’s education, akin to practices.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he disclosed that nearly 27 lakh parents participated in a recent expansive Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) across government schools, highlighting a new focus on parental engagement in their children’s education, akin to practices in private institutions.

CM Mann stressed the government’s plan to establish eight advanced centres designed to prepare students for competitive exams such as the UPSC, providing high-quality training to enhance the prospects of Punjab’s youth in national-level assessments.

The chief minister also outlined several initiatives aimed at improving Punjab’s education system. The state has dispatched six groups of 202 school principals and education officers to Singapore for a five-day leadership development program. Additionally, 72 primary teachers have gained professional training in Finland, and three batches of 152 headmasters and education officers have been trained at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. Mann emphasized that the objective is to deliver world-class education and enable Punjab’s students to excel in all fields.

Other advancements include the regularization of 12,316 employees within the education department and the recruitment of 10,361 teachers since April 2022. Mann also pointed out that 118 government schools are undergoing transformation into ‘Schools of Eminence,’ with plans for high-speed internet across all institutions supported by a budget of Rs 29.3 crore. New transportation services have also been introduced for these schools and 17 girls’ senior secondary schools.

On the tourism front, CM Mann mentioned that the state is actively working to promote the ‘kandi’ region as a prime tourist destination, utilizing its natural resources to attract international visitors.
