Amritsar: Punjab police dismantled a terror module and apprehended three individuals near Amritsar airport on Sunday night. The authorities seized an AK-47, several rounds of ammunition, and two pistols—one with a .30 bore and another with a .32 bore—along with cartridges.

The suspects have been named as Lovepreet, Karandeep, and Buta Singh, who all reside in Amritsar Rural. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar announced the operation’s success, stating, “We have made significant progress in busting this terror module.”

According to Bhullar, Buta Singh is the primary suspect and orchestrated the network. He explained that the group received weaponry from intermediaries and was motivated by financial incentives. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origins of the arms and ammunition, exploring the entire financial network, suppliers, and drone involvement.

Bhullar praised his team for their efforts, revealing that one suspect attempted to shoot at an Assistant Sub-Inspector during transportation, leading to a retaliatory action that resulted in injuries to Lovepreet and Buta Singh.

Earlier, on January 30, Punjab Police had detained two operatives, Robinjeet Singh and Harpreet Singh, who belonged to the Satta Naushehra Gang. This arrest followed a brief gunfire exchange and yielded two grenades and a pistol with live rounds. The Director General of Punjab Police shared the news on social media, crediting swift actions based on confidential intelligence in apprehending the individuals linked to Canada-based terrorist Lakhbir and USA-based Gurdev Singh.
