Chandigarh: Punjab Police has now become strict on those who open the sunroof of a moving car and stand inside it or have fun. The police will now take strict action against such people. Orders have been issued by the police in this regard. Special teams have been formed in all the districts to keep an eye on this.
The purpose behind this is to prevent road accidents. Along with this, Punjab Police has instructed the officers that if any complaint or video related to this comes to the fore, then action should be taken on a priority basis.
This order has been issued by the Additional Director General of Police on the lines of Bengaluru. It has been said in the past that luxury cars have sunroofs. Small children come out of it and create a ruckus on national and state highways and cities. This distracts the attention of the driver.
In such a situation, the risk of accidents increases. Such people should be challenged. In this regard, instructions should be issued to the employees posted in the traffic wing. If any such vehicle comes to notice, then action should be taken under the Motor Vehicle Act. Mohali DSP Traffic Mahesh Saini said that action should be taken against those who break the rules.
According to experts in the police department, this trendy feature was given by car companies for the convenience of the people. But many youths misuse this thing. In such a case, a heavy fine is imposed. Some time ago, a young man in Delhi lay down with the sunroof open. The police got the video of this. After this, a fine of $26,000 was imposed on him.
