Tarn Taran (Punjab): In a marital dispute wife humiliated her husband before relatives. The husband, who had brought poisonous substance with him even before appearing in the city police station Tarn Taran, swallowed it in front of everyone out of shame. When her condition worsened, the police staff immediately took him to the civil hospital Tarn Taran, where he died during treatment.
After the incident wife of the deceased fled from the police station. Police registered the case against the wife Heena resident of Ambala and her relatives on the complaint of the deceased mother. Balwinder kaur w/o Megh Singh Resident of Rodupura said that her son Manjeet Singh was Married with Heena Two and half year ago.
After some time of marriage, Heena Verma started quarreling with her husband Manjeet. About 5 months ago, she went to her maternal home after quarrel with Manjeet Singh, and about 15 days ago, she returned home without informing anyone at 12 midnight.
About 10 days after this, Heena started quarreling with her husband again, which was instigated by her relative Sunil Sugandh on phone. Regarding this dispute, Heena Verma had lodged a complaint against Manjeet in City Police Station, for which he was called to the police station on 1 August for hearing. During this time, apart from Manjeet Singh, other relatives and Heena were also present in the police station, who insulted her husband Manjeet Singh a lot, which he could not tolerate and took out poison from his pocket and consume it.
After this, Manjeet Singh was immediately admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Tarn Taran. He died during treatment on Sunday morning. The mother and family members of the deceased Manjeet Singh are demanding justice from the SSP.
The family members said that after Manjeet’s death, Heena Verma absconded without informing the police. DSP Tarsem Masih said that based on the statement of the deceased’s mother, a case has been registered against daughter-in-law Heena Verma and brother-in-law Sunil Sugandh, and arrest proceedings have been initiated.
