Ferozepur: During the campaign against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today caught Amit Kumar Kakkar, an inspector of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation posted at Ferozepur, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000.
Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said today that the accused had been arrested based on a complaint filed by a Ferozepur-based arhti Mohan Lal.
He further said that the complainant had approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said accused was demanding a bribe of Rs 2 per sack for passing a bill related to labor and stitching expenses etc. for the purchased paddy sacks, but the deal was settled at Rs 1.30 per sack, which amounts to Rs 45,000.
The spokesperson said that after the initial investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and caught the accused inspector while accepting a bribe of Rs. 45,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses and also recovered the bribe amount.
In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused at the Vigilance Bureau police station Ferozepur Range under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation of this matter is underway.
