The Indian Meteorological Department has said that rain may intensify in Punjab in the next two days (21 and 22 July). A yellow alert has been issued in the state today. Except for a few places, there was no heavy rain yesterday, but the temperature dropped slightly due to cloud cover.
At the same time, an orange flash alert has been issued in Rupnagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot till 9 am. While a yellow alert has been issued in the districts. Rain has been seen in Mohali since morning.
According to the Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, heavy to moderate rain may occur in 12 districts of Punjab. Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Nawanshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali and Rupnagar may receive 12 cm or more, i.e., heavy rain.
At the same time, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala are likely to receive moderate rain. Light rain may occur in the remaining districts. The Meteorological Department says that people are expected to get relief from the heat in these two days.
The temperature reached close to normal
Talking about the temperature, the maximum temperature in the state has recorded an average drop of 0.6 degrees Celsius. This drop is considered normal. The highest maximum temperature in Punjab was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius in Patiala.
The temperature was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana, 35.4 in Bathinda, 34.2 in Amritsar, 32.7 in Pathankot and 33 degrees Celsius in Ferozepur. Apart from this, 2.5 mm of rain was traced in Ferozepur and 2.5 mm in Pathankot.
