Chandigarh: Once again the mood of the weather in Punjab has changed. Strong winds are blowing in many parts of Punjab today since dawn. Meanwhile some parts of the state are likely to get isolated showers today as orange alert has been issued by the IMD.
Due to Western Disturbance, people will once again get relief from the heat in Punjab, Chandigarh, and other areas. Along with rain, there is a possibility of hailstorms in some areas of Punjab and neighbouring states too.
Actually, the weather department had issued an alert of rain and hail for the last 3 days which gave relief from heat wave to people. With the change in weather and rain onset, on one side common people have got sigh of relief whereas on the other side, farmers are getting worried.
Orange Alert For today
Earlier, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued an orange alert for Punjab on April 29, i.e. today. The department had predicted thundershowers. Meanwhile, a warning of strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour has also been given. IMD had predicted isolated hailstorms over Punjab too.
Farmers worried with Western Disturbance
In view of the bad weather, where the farmers have accelerated the harvesting of the crops, there are piles of wheat in the mandis as well. Wheat is piling up so fast that there is a shortage of threshing machines for its procurement and lifting. Due to bad weather, there is fear of heavy loss to the farmers.
