Punjab Weather Update: Amid rain alert dense fog reduces visibility across region

The average maximum temperature has dropped by 2.6 degrees Celsius today on Sunday as compared to Saturday.

Jalandhar: The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Punjab today. This alert is not about fog or cold wave but has been issued about the possibility of rain in Punjab till February 5. Despite this, the day has started with dense fog today. Visibility has reached zero in many areas. Actually, a new western disturbance has become active since last Monday, whose effect will remain till February 5.

At the same time, there will be a slight increase in temperature during the coming 3 days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and strong winds in Pathankot, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Nawanshahr, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Barnala, Sangrur and Patiala in Punjab.

The average maximum temperature has dropped by 2.6 degrees Celsius today on Sunday as compared to Saturday. However, the temperature in the state is close to normal. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 23.1 degrees Celsius, which was in Bathinda.

The newly activated western disturbance is located on the border of Iran and Afghanistan. After the activation of this western disturbance, there are chances of rain in Punjab and surrounding areas. At the same time, a new western disturbance is becoming active from February 8.

After the activation of the western disturbance, its effect will also be seen in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
