Jalandhar : A red alert has been issued in Punjab for the next four days due to heat wave. According to the Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, there is a possibility of intense heat till May 27.
Nights in Punjab are also very hot. Bathinda was the hottest in the state on Thursday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 45.4 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature of Ludhiana was 41.6, Patiala 39.5, Ferozepur 43.4 and Pathankot 41.1 degrees Celsius.

The effect of heat is also increasing due to the decreasing difference between day and night temperature. According to weather experts, this trend will continue in the coming days as well. Due to which the temperature may remain between 45 to 46 degrees Celsius during the day and 30 to 31 degrees Celsius at night.
However, Nautpa i.e. maximum heat of nine days is also going to start from May 25. Which are counted among the hottest days. Meteorologist Dr. Daljit Singh said that the reason for the heat and rising temperature is not only the heat of the sun but also the burning of stubble, piles of dirt and dry leaves.
