Punjab Weather Update: Flash alert in 11 districts, heavy downpour since morning

Rain was seen in Amritsar and the surrounding districts since morning.

A flash alert has been issued in 11 districts of Punjab till 12 am. According to which, there is a possibility of rain in Patiala, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Fatehgarh Sahib, Chandigarh, Rupnagar (Ropar), Moga, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, and Ludhiana. Rain was seen in Amritsar and the surrounding districts in the morning.

According to the forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather is likely to be better than normal this month in the state of Punjab for July 2025. The monthly average rainfall in the entire Punjab region can be normal to above normal. That is, there is a possibility of good rain in July, which is relief news for the farmers, especially it is considered better for paddy.

Punjab can also get relief in terms of temperature. The department estimates that the monthly average maximum temperature in the state will be below normal. There will be protection from severe heat during the day, and the temperature is expected to be below normal, and heat wave conditions will be almost negligible. However, due to lack of rain, the temperature increased by 5 degrees on Wednesday. It has rained in Amritsar andthe  surrounding areas.

Along with this, the night temperature is also likely to remain below or around normal. That is, the weather at night can also remain relatively cool or comfortable, which can be the effect of continuous rainfall.

On the other hand, only 8.5 mm of rain was seen in Hoshiarpur on the previous day, while the weather remained the same in other districts. Due to which the maximum temperature of the state saw an increase of about 5 degrees. Despite this, the temperature in the state remained normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.3 degrees in Bathinda.

Chances of rain again on July 5

Not only today, there is no alert regarding rain in the state on Friday as well. But from July 5, there are chances of rain again in the state. There are chances of rain in 7 districts adjoining Himachal Pradesh, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has once again issued an orange alert in the state on Saturday, July 6. The series of rains is expected to continue till July 8.
