Chandigarh: The rains in Punjab in the past few days have increased the cold. Along with this, due to snowfall in the mountains, the temperature of the state has also dropped.
Today, the effect of fog and mist is being seen in many areas of Punjab. After snowfall in the mountains, the cold is continuously increasing in the plains of Punjab-Chandigarh. Now a fog alert has been issued with the warning of a cold wave. Along with this, there is a possibility of rain in Punjab between January 1 i.e. today and January 6.
Currently, a western disturbance is active. According to the Meteorological Center, 2 new western disturbances are going to be active between January 1 and 6. After this, rain may fall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh as well as in the plains. On the other hand, snowfall is also continuing in the mountains. Due to this, the temperature of Punjab will further decrease and there will be severe cold in the state.
Dense fog was seen in some districts of Punjab since Monday night. According to the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert has been issued in the state today regarding fog and cold wave, in which a cold wave alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar and Mohali.
At the same time, according to the Meteorological Department, a dense fog alert has been issued in the capital of Punjab, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur and Malerkotla. Due to dense fog in these cities, visibility was recorded less than 50 meters. Visibility in Patiala was 250 meters and in Ludhiana it was 500 meters.
