Jalandhar, July 27: No alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding the weather in Punjab today. It is expected that there may be light drizzle in some areas adjoining Himachal. Light clouds remained in some parts of the state, due to which the temperature has dropped slightly.
According to IMD, the average maximum temperature in Punjab has decreased by 0.3 degrees Celsius, although it remains close to normal. Rupnagar recorded the highest temperature of 36.2 degrees. Apart from this, Amritsar recorded 35 degrees, Ludhiana 34.2 degrees, Patiala 36 degrees and Pathankot 33.8 degrees.
The weather remained dry in most districts of the state, only 3 mm of rain was recorded in Ferozepur and 5.5 mm in Moga.
Weather forecast for the next 4 days
27 July 2025: Most districts are likely to remain dry. Only Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and some border districts are likely to receive sporadic rains.
July 28 and 29: Districts like Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Pathankot and Jalandhar are likely to receive rainfall in 50-75% of the area. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in most parts of the state.
July 30: Light rains are expected in northern and central districts of Punjab, while the weather may remain dry in southern districts.
14 percent less rain than normal in July
After good rains in the beginning of July, the monsoon has been continuously weakening. After July 7, less than normal rainfall is being recorded. If we look at the data from July 1 to July 26, the state has received only 115.6 mm of rain, which normally should have been 134.5 mm. This is 14 percent less than normal.
The effect of July is also visible on the complete monsoon. If we look at the rainfall since June 1, the state has received 2 percent less rainfall than normal.
