Heat has again taken hold in Punjab. Today, the average maximum temperature in the state has increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius. This is 3.5 degrees above normal, which the Meteorological Department has described as “much above normal”. The highest temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Patiala.
According to the five-day forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, heat wave conditions may persist in many districts in the coming days.
Yellow alert has been issued for heat wave in Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Barnala, Sangrur on April 25. Heat wave warning will continue in many areas of south-western Punjab including Bathinda, Fazilka, Muktsar, Ferozepur, Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala on April 26, 27, 28 and 29. Heat wave warning may continue for the next five days, so caution is necessary.
