Today is the last day of Nautapa. These days, which are counted among the hottest days of the year, started on 25 May. But even on the last day of Nautapa in Punjab, there was no significant effect of a heat wave.
Even today, a yellow alert has been issued for rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms in 16 districts of Punjab. On the previous day, the maximum temperature of the state recorded a slight increase of only 0.1 degree Celsius, which remained around normal. Meanwhile, Bathinda remained the hottest place, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.3 degree Celsius.
The maximum temperature in most districts of the state remained between 38°C and 41°C, resulting in moderate heat, but without a heatwave-like situation.
Alert and rain-storm forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds (40–50 km/h) in 16 districts for the next few days.
2 June (Monday): An Alert has been issued in 16 districts. According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ropar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Bathinda, and Ferozepur.
3 June (Tuesday): Heavy rain and thunderstorm alert has been issued in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Sangrur, Mansa, Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur etc.
4 June and 5 June: ‘No warning’ has been issued in the entire Punjab. The weather is expected to remain normal.
