Punjab Weather Update: Light drizzle since morning, rain alert till Jan 2

The highest temperature of 23.9 degrees has been recorded at Dam in Pathankot.

Chandigarh: The weather has changed in Punjab and Chandigarh from today. Along with the cold wave, there has been a drizzle since morning. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph in 21 districts of Punjab today.

There is also a possibility of hailstorms at some places. However, the average temperature of the state has increased by 0.6 degrees in the last 24 hours. Which is 2 degrees more than the normal temperature. The highest temperature of 23.9 degrees has been recorded at Thein Dam in Pathankot.

The weather will change today in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Malerkotla in Punjab.

There is a possibility of thunderstorms and hailstorms here. According to the Meteorological Department, people should try to avoid cold in such weather. Light to moderate rain is expected in most parts of the state from December 27 to January 2.
