At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of strong thunderstorm and lightning in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar today.

A tragic accident took place last night at a bridge construction site going on between Ahmedpur village of Kapurthala and Athola in Jalandhar. In this, three people riding a motorcycle suddenly fell into a deep pit dug for construction work, killing one person and seriously injuring two others.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is likely at many places in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar today. While light to moderate rain is likely at some places in Tarn Taran, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala and Mohali.
