Punjab Weather Update: Orange alert for storm and rain issued, average temperature dropped

Due to rain, the average temperature dropped by 3.1 degrees.

Chandigarh: An Orange alert has been issued for storm and rain in Punjab today also. Rain was also seen in many districts of Punjab on Sunday. 16 mm of rain was recorded in Ropar. At the same time, 5.0 mm rain was recorded in Amritsar, 1.0 mm in Ludhiana, 4.0 mm in Pathankot. Due to rain, the average temperature dropped by 3.1 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius in Bathinda. This change in weather is being seen due to the activation of Western Disturbance.

On Sunday, many districts remained cloudy throughout the day. After which the temperature in Amritsar was recorded at 32.9 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana at 32.3 degrees Celsius, Patiala at 36.4 degrees Celsius, Faridkot at 32.2 degrees Celsius, Hoshiarpur at 35.7 degrees Celsius, Noormahal (Jalandhar) at 35.6 degrees Celsius and Mohali at 35.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the warning issued by the India Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 40-60 kmph in many districts of Punjab in the next few days.

On May 5, there is an orange alert for rain and storm in the districts adjoining Himachal, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali, Sangrur and Mansa. While a yellow alert has been issued in all other districts. At the same time, a yellow alert has been issued for rain and storm in many districts till May 8.
