After cloud cover in many Punjab districts, a slight temperature drop has been recorded. Actually, since the activation of Western Disturbance, a change in the state’s temperature has been seen. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is also possible in many districts of Punjab on 19 and 20 February, which has also resulted in a yellow alert being issued in the state.
According to the Meteorological Center, the average maximum temperature on Sunday has dropped by 2.1 degrees Celsius as compared to Saturday. Despite this, the temperature in the state remains 2.6 degrees Celsius above normal. On Sunday, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 26.3 degrees Celsius in Bathinda. At the same time, the minimum night temperature remained between 7 to 11 degrees.
Low rainfall in Punjab has raised concerns. After the 2024 monsoon drought, now 2025 has also started with less rain. After January 1, an average of 35.1 mm of rain fell in Punjab, but so far only 8.8 mm of rain has occurred.
At the same time, the Bhakra Dam management has already expressed concern due to the low water in the dams. Along with Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan have been warned about the decline in irrigation and power generation this year.
