Chandigarh: A rain alert has been issued in Punjab today as well. There is a possibility of good rain in many districts today. It has been raining in most of the districts of Punjab since morning. Due to the sluggish monsoon for the last few days, the temperature of the state has once again crossed 40 degrees. The maximum temperature of the state was recorded 4.1 degrees above normal. Today many parts of the state have been receiving light showers which has brought down the temperature.
Despite orange and yellow alerts across the state on Wednesday, there was no rain in most of the districts. Due to this the humidity levels increased and the temperature also peaked.
According to the Meteorological Department Center (IMD), an alert has been issued for rain in Mansa, Barnala, Bathinda, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Faridkot, Moga, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala and Ludhiana till 12 noon today.
An orange alert for rain has been issued in 8 districts of Punjab today. These orange alerts are for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Barnala, Sangrur and Mansa. While a yellow alert has been issued for rain in the rest of the state. On Friday, this alert will be limited to the districts adjoining Himachal.
