Punjab Weather Update: Temperature hovers above normal, orange alert issued

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature of the state has been recorded at Samrala in Ludhiana at 46.1°C. Apart from this, 43.8°C was recorded in Chandigarh city, 44.6°C in Bathinda, 44.2°C in Amritsar and 43.9°C in Ludhiana.

The condition of heatwave or hot nights persists in most of the districts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert to remain alert for the next few days. The effect of heatwave and hot nights is being seen more especially in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda, Mansa and Barnala.

Possible relief from June 14

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds (40-50 km per hour) in Punjab from June 14. This may provide some relief from the heat. While there is a heatwave warning in most districts till June 13, there are signs of change in the weather after June 14.
