Punjab Weather Update: Temperature hovers above normal, rain expected as overcast skies continue

The weather in Punjab remains hotter than normal. The maximum temperature of the state has been recorded 2.8 degrees above normal. In the last 24 hours, the temperature of the state has increased by 1.2 degrees. As per IMD, this increase will continue in the coming days as well.

However, there are chances of rain in the coming days. Due to this the increase in temperature is expected to stop. According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance is becoming active from February 17. Its effect will be seen in Himachal Pradesh.

But its effect is also expected in Punjab from February 19. There is a possibility of light rain in some districts of Punjab on February 19-20.

If it rains as per the forecast of February 19-20, then Punjab, which is facing drought, may get some relief. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, from January 1, 2025 till yesterday, there has been 73 percent less rainfall in Punjab.

Punjab receives 33 mm of rain in one and a half months, but till now only 8.8 mm of rain has occurred in the state.
