Punjab Weather Update: Temperature to drop further but no alert for fog

Winds coming from Himachal Pradesh are blowing towards the plains.

Even today, no alert has been issued regarding fog and cold wave in Punjab. In the last 24 hours, the average maximum temperature has dropped by 1 degree. However, it remains 3.1 degrees Celsius above normal in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the coming days are also likely to remain dry.

According to the Meteorological Center, a western disturbance has become active in the border of Pakistan at present. Its effect is being seen in Himachal Pradesh. An alert has been issued there regarding fog as well as cold wave. Winds coming from Himachal Pradesh are blowing towards the plains.

In the coming 3 days, the temperature of Punjab may drop by 2 to 4 degrees. But after that, there will not be much change in the temperature.

After the Western Disturbance became active, there were chances of rain in Punjab from January 21 to December 23. However, the effect of the last western disturbance was also not seen in Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, from January 1 to January 22, there has been 37 percent less rainfall in Punjab. Due to this Punjab has been put in the red zone.

According to the Meteorological Department, Punjab receives 12.3 mm of rain in the first 22 days of January. But this year too, the rainfall has been much less than normal. So far this year, Punjab has received 8.3 mm of rain, which is 32 percent less than normal. Like last year, this year too has started with less rain in Punjab.
