The western disturbance which became active from February 4 has become sluggish today. Despite the alert, there was no rain in Punjab. Like January, now the month of February is also passing dry. But the effect of this western disturbance was seen in Himachal Pradesh and snowfall occurred in some areas. Due to this there was a slight drop in the temperature of Punjab in the last few days.
No alert has been issued regarding rain and fog in Punjab today. However, it is being estimated that the temperature of Punjab will drop by 2 to 3 degrees in the coming two days.
The effect of the western disturbance which became inactive from February 4 was limited to the hilly areas. Despite the alert, there was no rain in Punjab and surrounding states. Now a new western disturbance is going to become active from February 8.
This western disturbance is also going to be limited to the hilly districts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Its effect will also not be seen in the plains. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain dry in Punjab in the next one week.
