Chandigarh: 6 districts of Punjab are likely to receive more than normal rainfall today (July 22). While the weather will remain normal in other districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Punjab till July 24. The effect of rain in Himachal Pradesh is now also visible on the dams of Punjab.
Effect on Dams
5 gates of Pandoh Dam were opened on Monday. Taking precautionary measures, the BBMB administration released 42 thousand cusecs of water from the dam into the Beas River. The water level of the dam was recorded at around 2920 feet, which is still much below the danger mark of 2941 feet. After opening all five gates of Pandoh Dam, the water level of the Beas River has increased. In such a situation, the BBMB management has appealed to people not to go towards the Beas River.
Temperature drops
Rain fell in most districts of Punjab on Monday. After this, the average maximum temperature has decreased by 5.7 degrees Celsius. This is 2.7 degrees Celsius below normal. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Bathinda at 36 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, 96 mm of rain was recorded in Hoshiarpur, 10.6 mm in Ludhiana, 17 mm in Pathankot, 10 mm in Mohali.

July 22: No alert has been issued in most districts, but a yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh, and Patiala.
July 23: Yellow alert regarding rain has been issued in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar.
July 24: Yellow alert for rain has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Rupnagar.
July 25: No warning in the entire state. The weather is expected to remain normal.
