Punjab Weather Updates: Monsoon likely to get active from today, alert issued in these districts

There is likely to be a change in the weather in Punjab from today. The Meteorological Department believes that the monsoon which has been sluggish for a long time can become active today. A yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur today. Apart from these, there is also a possibility of rain.

Apart from these, there is also a possibility of rain in Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur, Mansa and Bathinda.

Since morning clouds can be seen in many districts making the weather cool and giving people the much-needed relief.

A slight increase in temperature was also seen on Monday. The average temperature of the state has been recorded 2.1 degrees above normal.

According to the data released by the Meteorological Department, till Monday evening, 0.7 mm of rain was recorded in Amritsar, 0.5 mm in Ferozepur, 4 in Gurdaspur and 1 mm in Pathankot. While apart from the rain alert in East Malwa late night, a flash alert was issued for Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Moga, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr and Hoshiarpur.

On the other hand heavy rainfall in the western states of the country is making people worried with the excessive downpour. Red alert has been issued in Gujarat, Maharashtra. It is expected that heavy rain will decrease from August 29 onwards.
