Bathinda: In Punjab’s Bathinda, two youths were caught red-handed by farmers who were stealing oil from an electric transformer. Both were tied with a rope. Later, they were handed over to the police, who reached the spot.
Last night, two youths were stealing oil from a transformer installed in a field on the Kotsamir road from village Gahri Bhagi in Bathinda. When the farmers got the information, a large number of farmers reached the spot and caught both the youths red-handed. Both the youths had taken out about a hundred litres of oil from the transformer. Farmers have also recovered tools for opening the transformer and a bike from the accused youths.
The farmers tied them with rope and informed the Kotsamir police station. After this, the police reached the spot and took both the accused youths into their custody. Farmer Harjinder Singh said that in the last three days, oil has been stolen from about a dozen transformers in his village’s fields.
On the other hand, Kotsmeer police station in-charge Amritpal Singh said that he is interrogating both the youths.
