Amritsar: Punjab’s Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO today conducted a surprise inspection of Tehsil Amritsar and Seva Kendra and directed the officers and employees to be present on their duty on time. He directed officials not to cause any inconvenience to the people who came to get their work done. During this, on the request of an elderly woman for financial assistance, the Cabinet Minister gave her a cheque of Rs 36,000 on the spot.
While checking the Service Center, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh met an elderly mother sitting on a wheel chair and her daughter who had come with her. The woman said that she had come to the Seva Kendra regarding her mother’s pension. She said that she has five sisters and one brother. Her brother has thrown her mother out of the house and the mother is currently living with her. She said that she has her daughters and she needs financial assistance.
On hearing this, the Cabinet Minister asked the DC to solve the problem immediately and paid Rs 36,000 from his quota on the spot, which was the rent of her house for six months. At the same time, Cabinet Minister ETO called the concerned officials to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and said that the mother’s pension should be started immediately.
