The country’s rail connectivity with neighbouring states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, including Punjab, was cut off due to the chakka jam of trains for three days at 20 places in Punjab.
At many places in Punjab, farmers also protested by blocking the roads today.
The farmers’ organisations held a one-day rail roko morcha in Ambala and warned the central and state governments that if their demands were not met, the scope of the farmers’ struggle would be widened and a fight would be waged against the government.
Meanwhile, the Ferozepur railway division would suffer a financial loss of over Rs 5.5 crore during the three-day rail roko agitation by the farmers.
