On Sunday, there was heavy snowfall in the mountains, while after the evening there was light drizzle in the plains. At the same time, a slight drop in temperature has also been recorded due to heat lock. But now fog has once again covered Punjab-Chandigarh. Visibility has been recorded as zero in Amritsar and 200 meters in Patiala.
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain may occur at some places in Punjab-Chandigarh today. But an alert has been issued regarding snowfall in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal. After which an alert has been issued regarding fog in the plains of Punjab-Chandigarh.
Yellow alert of fog has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala and Malerkotla of Punjab.
Temperature rise due to heat lock
Most of the plains are cloudy. Due to which heat lock situation has arisen in Punjab-Chandigarh. The maximum temperature of Punjab has increased by 1.1 degrees and Chandigarh by 4.2 degrees. At the same time, the minimum temperature of Punjab is still 2.7 degrees above normal.
Fog will prevail till January 9, temperature will fall
Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, turf is formed. Due to which there is a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas tomorrow. Along with this, a fog alert has been issued in the plains. This fog will continue till January 9.
It is expected that now after snowfall, the temperature will decrease due to cold winds coming from the hilly areas.

Ludhiana – There will be light clouds. The temperature can remain between 10 to 16 degrees.
Patiala – There will be light clouds, rain is expected. The temperature can remain between 8 to 14 degrees.
