Chandigarh : Light rain on Wednesday night in Patiala, Moga and surrounding areas of Punjab has given relief to the people from the heat.
At the same time, the red alert issued by the Meteorological Department for the last few days has now been changed to orange. June 1 has been declared a yellow alert and June 2 a normal day. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of Western Disturbance becoming active.
According to the information received, Orange alert has been issued today in 17 districts of Punjab Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Faridkot, Moga, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Barnala, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur, Mansa and Patiala. While yellow alert has been issued in all other 6 districts.
Along with the change in warning, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of a drop in temperature by 1 to 4 degrees in the coming 2 to 3 days, which is a relief news for the people.
Possibility of rain with Western Disturbance
According to the information released by the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance is becoming active in North India in the coming days. Due to which there is a possibility of cloudiness and rain in some areas of Punjab from May 31. After which there will be a slight drop in the temperature of Punjab, which will give relief from the heat for some time.
Temperature of major cities of Punjab
Amritsar – The temperature of the city was recorded at around 45.8 degrees on Wednesday evening. Today this temperature may increase slightly and reach close to 47 degrees. While partial cloudiness is expected from May 31.
Jalandhar – The maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 45.9 degrees last evening. Today the maximum temperature is expected to be around 45 degrees. While there are chances of rain here on May 31.
Ludhiana- The maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 46.1 degrees. Today the temperature is expected to reach around 47 degrees.
Bathinda- The maximum temperature was recorded at 48.5 degrees yesterday. It is expected that today’s maximum temperature is also expected to be around 49 degrees.
Patiala- The temperature on Wednesday evening was recorded at 45.7 degrees. Today this temperature is expected to be around 47 degrees.
Mohali- The temperature was recorded at 45.7 degrees last evening. Today the temperature is expected to be around 46 degrees.
