Amritsar, May 4: Western Disturbance (WD) has brought relief from heat to the people of Punjab. The average maximum temperature in Punjab increased by 2.1 degrees Celsius, but it still remained 3.1 degrees Celsius below normal.
Today, also, orange and yellow alerts have been issued for storms, strong winds and rain in 16 districts of Punjab. Similar weather is expected in Punjab for the next 6 days.
The highest temperature in Punjab was recorded in Bathinda at 39.3 degrees Celsius. In most districts of the state, the temperature remained between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius.
Amritsar recorded a temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, Patiala 35.5 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 34.6 degrees Celsius and Bathinda 39.3 degrees Celsius.
Weather Department Alert: According to the warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), many districts of Punjab are likely to witness strong winds (40-60 kmph) and rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the next five days.
4 May: Orange alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar. Whereas, a Yellow alert has been issued in Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Patiala, Mansa, Fazilka, Muktsar and Bathinda districts.
5 May: Orange alert has been issued in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Mohali and Rupnagar. Whereas, a Yellow alert has been issued in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda and Mansa.
May 6-7: Yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.
