Ravneet Bittu on relationship with Sunil Jakhar, speculates reasons behind latter’s resignation

In an interview with a news channel, Bittu shed light on his relationship with Sunil Jakhar and possible reasons behind his resignation.

Chandigarh: Prominent BJP leader from Punjab and Minister of State for Railways opened about Sunil Jakhar’s resignation as Punjab BJP Chief. In an interview with a news channel, Bittu shed light on his relationship with Sunil Jakhar and possible reasons behind his resignation.

Putting an end to the rift between Jakhar and Bittu, MoS in an interview said that it was the BJP party chief who called him after Lok Sabha elections and asked him to push his name for the ministerial post. Ravneet Bittu contested Lok Sabha election from Ludhiana on BJP’s ticket and lost to Punjab Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.

Ravneet Singh Bittu was inducted in the cabinet and was given charge of Minister of State for Railways and Food processing. He said that he has close relationships with Sunil Jakhar and his name was proposed by BJP Party Chief at that time after the elections.

Speaking on Jakhar’s decision to step down as party chief, Bittu said that he is man with clear and straightforward issues related to Punjab. The resignation was offered by him after Lok Sabha elections as the party could not gain any seat under his leadership.

“The resignation was not due to any indifferences with the party. He felt that what’s the use of him being in charge if he could not make party gain any seats”, said Bittu justifying Jakhar’s decision to step down.

Last year, several media reports claimed that Jakhar offered his resignation from the post in the party, taking responsibility for the debacle in the state in the General Elections. However, the BJP leadership had rejected the reports about his quitting the post. Later Sunil Jakhar requested BJP leadership to accept his resignation and relieve him from his duties.

It should be noted that BJP has not yet taken any decision on Jakhar’s resignation and he continues to hold the charge till date.
