The torch, which traveled from Hoshiarpur, was warmly welcomed by prominent athletes, sportspersons, and sports enthusiasts at Adampur.

Upon reaching the Circuit House in Jalandhar, the torch received a grand reception from Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and other officials.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner praised the efforts of the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in connecting children and youth with sports to create a healthy and vibrant Punjab.

He stated that through ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan,’ the government is providing a great platform for youth to become national and international-level sportspersons.

Dr. Aggarwal encouraged the youth to actively participate in ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2024,’ emphasizing that sports not only keep us mentally and physically fit but also help in staying away from drugs and other social evils.

He mentioned that the administration has made thorough arrangements for the block, district, and state-level competitions under this event. These arrangements include lodging, food, security, medical, and transportation facilities for the participating athletes.

He further explained that individuals from various age groups, including under 14, 17, 21, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, and above 70 years, can participate in these games.

Later, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal sent off the torch from Circuit House towards Kapurthala, passing through Skylark Chowk and Guru Nanak Mission Chowk towards its next destination.

The event also witnessed the presence of Punjab Agro Chairman Mangal Singh Basi, Olympian Surinder Singh Sodhi, Arjuna Awardee Rajinder Singh Senior, SDM Jai Inder Singh, District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh, coaches Umesh Sharma, Vikram Singh, Sarbjit Singh, Manjit Singh, AAP leader Gurinder Singh Shergill, Subhash Sharma, Bachattar Kular, Arshdeep Mahal, Ashok Arya, Ramesh Bhagat Mahandru, Sandeep Singh, among others.

Notably, the torch was welcomed at Adampur by international athletic players Kunwar Ajay Rana, Rasdeep Kaur, Neha, Ranjit Singh, national football players Lovepreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh, and national medalist wrestler Tarandeep Singh, along with other prominent sportspersons and sports enthusiasts.
