Chandigarh : The farmers have announced to lift rail roko protest from the Shambhu railway track on Monday. Undoubtedly, this announcement of the farmers has brought a message of relief to the lakhs of people traveling by trains who are out of Punjab for their work.
Along with this, the industrialists of Punjab have also breathed a sigh of relief, whose business was being affected due to this protest.
On the 13th of February, some farmers’ organizations of Punjab started the movement by raising the slogan ‘Delhi Chalo’ for their demands, but the Haryana government sealed the borders within Punjab and did not allow the farmers to enter Haryana.
Although the farmers tried many times to enter Haryana, but due to heavy settlements, the agitating farmers could not enter Haryana.
Due to this, the farmers put up a firm front on the Shambhu border itself, which is about to complete 100 days now. During this period of agitation, more than 20 farmers have lost their lives so far.
Farmer leaders also announced on Monday that a large gathering of 40-50 thousand farmers will be held at the Shambhu border on completion of hundred days of the movement. One thing is very important in this that most farmers’ organizations have kept a distance from this movement.
They said that this method of movement is not correct in any way. It will not be of any benefit, on the contrary it will only spoil the image of the farmers. The approach of political parties has been different regarding this movement.
Most of the political parties support the farmers’ demands but have avoided saying anything about the movement. Due to this, commuters were facing problems. Meanwhile, on April 17, farmers also put up a firm front on the Shambhu railway track, which affected rail traffic.
About 200 trains were affected daily due to this. Out of these 65 trains were being cancelled. The rest were either delayed or diverted via alternate routes. Due to this, the railway was losing crores of rupees. The industry of Punjab was suffering due to which now the industrialists started speaking openly against the farmers.
The All Industries and Trade Forum (AITF) said that they had warned in the past that if the railway tracks were not cleared within ten days, he would open a front against the farmers.
There is no doubt that with this decision of the farmer leaders, while the railways and industries of Punjab will be protected from loss, millions of people who are suffering because of this will also get relief.
