Three youths arrested stealing bike in Jalandhar: Mob assaults them before police arrival

Jalandhar: A ruckus broke out near Tanda gate under police station number 3 in Jalandhar on Friday morning when four youths were caught red-handed stealing a bike. The bike owner, along with other people, also beat up the accused. Bike owner Amit Kumar said that due to the Tanda gate being closed, he had locked.

Jalandhar: A ruckus broke out near Tanda gate under police station number 3 in Jalandhar on Friday morning when four youths were caught red-handed stealing a bike. The bike owner, along with other people, also beat up the accused.

Bike owner Amit Kumar said that due to the Tanda gate being closed, he had locked his bike near the gate and went to a shop on the other side of the gate to get goods. When he returned, he saw that two youths were trying to open the lock of his bike by putting in a duplicate key. On Amit Kumar called the thieves from behind, both the thieves got scared and started running. The third thief was standing on a motorcycle on the road.

Amit said that he made noise, and with the help of people, he caught all three thieves on the spot. A crowbar, a knife, and a screwdriver have been recovered from the thieves. The bike on which the third accomplice of the thieves was standing did not have any documents.

When asked by people, all three thieves said that they were residents of village Ballath and were returning home after attending the fair of Maa Chintapurni Darbar. All three accused said that the allegations levelled by the public and the bike owner of bike theft were false. At present, the people have handed over all three accused to police station number 3. The police is investigating the matter.
