Chandigarh: An important meeting of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working Committee is going to be held today (Friday). The meeting will be chaired by acting chief Balwinder Singh Bhudar. A decision can be taken on the resignation of party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal in the meeting. While a strategy will be prepared regarding the party’s membership campaign.

According to the information, the SAD Working Committee meeting will be held at the party’s headquarters in Chandigarh at 3 pm. Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema had given information about this by posting on social media account X two days ago.

However, before this he had met the Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib. While after this, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami met him yesterday. Jathedar Sahib of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has made it clear that the orders of Akal Takht will have to be followed

Long discussion on resignation

Sukhbir Badal has already resigned. On December 2, under the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the executive was instructed to accept the resignation and inform the Akal Takht Secretariat. However, Akali leaders had sought time for the executive meeting citing religious services, which was granted.

There was a long discussion on Sukhbir Badal’s resignation in the meeting. During the meeting, clear indications were given that a membership drive will be started in the new year and such workers and individuals will be made members who are trustworthy at the grassroots level and loyal to the party leadership.

Sukhbir’s tenure has ended on December 14

It is expected that Sukhbir Badal’s resignation will be accepted in the committee meeting. This is also important because Sri Akal Takht Sahib has ordered to accept the resignation. If the resignation is not accepted, it will send a message to the public and Panthic circles that the Akali leadership is not following the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. On the other hand, Sukhbir Badal’s term as president has ended on December 14.
